ABOUT THIS SITE.

The Ludic Log is a website that features short humor, criticism and opinion, fiction, political punditry, and other forms of timekilling whimsy.  It is updated daily or near as dammit.  It should appeal to fans of comic books, ill-mannered liberalism, cursing, obscure cultural references, malformed half-jokes, and lighthearted treatment of Nazis.  I try not to use the word "blog" when describing it because I hate the word "blog", but really, it's a blog.  If I was less self-hating, I would call it a shining beacon for the kind of literate, well-crafted humor that is out of fashion these days, but really, it's just a way for me to avoid doing real work for which someone might actually pay me.  There are, however, some other things I have written, often for money, and they are linked here.

And who am I?  I am Leonard A. Pierce, a freelance writer and professional layabout.  I currently live and work in San Antonio, TX, for reasons best left unrevealed.  I am a citizen of the United States of America.  I like reading, writing and sleeping, in more or less that order, and I like making jokes that appeal to me and the six or seven people on Earth who are like me.  I watch far too much television and have more music than is mentally healthy.  I can be contacted by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page; it is very gratifying to me when people are amused or offended by the things I write.  (I can also be hired; my CV is located to your left.)  I am responsible for all content on this site except where noted; Mr. Jon Morris is responsible for the design.  I am being ironic, except when I am not.

Most of the entries on this site are meant to be funny.  I tell you this in case it is not immediately obvious from reading them.  I am very proud of a few of the pieces contained here, indifferent to a much larger number, and ashamed of a few.  Several have been read before live paying audiences to mixed results, but it is a certainty that all of my writing is much improved by the taking of a drink or five.  The stuff that most people come here in search of can be found here, but I urge you to wander through the archives on the off chance that you might be mildly entertained by something I have written that does not pertain to She-Hulk's naked butt.  I will continue updating the site in the face of widespread indifference until I stop.

Thank you for visiting the Ludic Log, and I hope you enjoy yourself.
